Het Verloren Continent – Het Verhaal Van Atlantis
The Lost Continent: The Story of Atlantis is a fantasy novel written by C. J. Cutcliffe Hyne. The novel recounts the tale of the mythical Atlantis, drawing from Plato’s narrative and the Greek myth of Deucalion.
Initially published in serial form in Pearson’s Magazine from July to December in 1899, the novel was later released in hardcover by Hutchinson (London) and Harpers (New York) in 1900. Since then, the book has seen several reissues.
The Ballantine Books reissued the novel as part of the Ballantine Adult Fantasy series in 1972 with an introduction by Lin Carter. Subsequent editions were brought out by Oswald Train in 1974 and Bison Books in 2002, the latter featuring an introduction by Harry Turtledove.
In 2017, Armchair Fiction included the novel as the twelfth volume in their “Lost World-Lost Race” series. Besides, the story was printed (in an abridged form) in Famous Fantastic Mysteries in December 1944 and in the Anthology Science Fiction by the Rivals of H. G. Wells by Castle Books in 1979.
